How Does the Formula Work?
The Roblox tax calculator computes the flat 30% platform fee Roblox deducts from experience purchases like game passes, developer products, private servers and paid access, where the creator keeps 70%. Enter a sale price to see your actual earnings, or enter your desired earnings to find the exact price to set. (Avatar items like clothing and accessories use a separate revenue share; see below.)
Sale Price → Earnings:
Earnings = floor(Sale Price × 0.70)
Tax = Sale Price − Earnings
Desired Earnings → Price:
Price = ceil(Earnings ÷ 0.70)
Examples:
100 R$ sale → 30 tax → 70 R$ earned
Want 100 R$? → Set price to 143 R$
How the 30% Fee Works
Roblox applies a flat 30% fee to game passes, developer products, private servers and paid access. If you sell a game pass for 100 Robux, Roblox keeps 30 and you receive 70. Fractional Robux do not exist, so this calculator rounds your share down to a whole Robux; very low prices (1-2 Robux) therefore lose a proportionally larger share to rounding.
Reverse Calculator
The "I want to earn" mode solves the common developer question: if I want to receive exactly 100 Robux, what price should I set? The answer is 143 Robux (because floor(143 × 0.70) = 100). The calculator uses ceiling division to ensure you always receive at least your target amount. This is essential for pricing game passes and developer products correctly.
What the Fee Applies To
The flat 30% fee applies to experience monetization: game passes, developer products, private servers and paid access. You keep 70% of each. Plugins and models are sold for US dollars on the Creator Store, outside this Robux fee. Avatar marketplace items work differently and this calculator does not model them: clothing, accessories and other catalog items use a progressive revenue share where the creator's cut rises with how far the price sits above the item's price floor (roughly 30% at the floor, up to 70% for items priced well above it), and items bought inside an experience also pay the experience owner a share. Reselling a community-made Limited pays the reseller 50% of the sale, the original creator 10%, the seller or affiliate 10% and Roblox 30%. Engagement-based payouts for Premium playtime were retired on 24 July 2025, when Roblox replaced them with Creator Rewards.
Bulk Sales
Use the quantity field to calculate earnings from multiple sales at the same price. If you sell 100 copies of a 50 Robux game pass, total revenue is 5,000 Robux with 1,500 going to Roblox tax and 3,500 to you. This helps developers project revenue from popular items and plan pricing strategies.
Pricing Strategy for Developers
Smart pricing accounts for the 30% fee from the start. If your target revenue is 100 Robux per sale, set the price to 143 rather than 100 and being surprised by the deduction. For items with round-number appeal, consider pricing at 142 (which yields 99 Robux) versus 143 (which yields 100); the psychological impact of a lower display price may drive more sales even at a slightly lower margin.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Roblox marketplace tax?
Roblox takes a flat 30% platform fee on experience purchases: game passes, developer products, private servers and paid access. Sell a game pass for 100 Robux and you receive 70. Avatar items such as clothing and accessories use a separate, price-based revenue share that this flat rate does not cover.
How do I calculate the price to set?
Use the 'I want to earn' mode. Enter your desired earnings and the calculator shows the sale price to set. For example, to earn 100 Robux, set the price to 143 Robux.
Does the 30% tax apply to everything?
No. The flat 30% fee covers experience monetization: game passes, developer products, private servers and paid access. You keep 70%. Avatar and marketplace items (clothing, accessories, UGC) use a progressive revenue share instead, and reselling a community Limited pays the reseller half the sale. Plugins and models are sold for US dollars on the Creator Store, outside this Robux fee.
Can I avoid the 30% tax?
No. The 30% platform fee on experience purchases is mandatory.
